Sliding Gate Opener Anchor Bolt Installation

How to Precisely Install Anchor Bolts for a Sliding Gate Opener

Sliding Gate Opener Installation

Anchor bolts play an important role in securing sliding gate openers. Installing them accurately and firmly on the concrete pad is essential for ensuring the gate opener’s stability and long-term performance. Once you have determined the position of the gate opener, it's time to secure it to the concrete pad using anchor bolts. Follow this step-by-step guide for precise installation of the anchor bolts:

1. Confirm Anchor Bolt and Power Cord Hole Locations

Begin by loosening the cover screws and removing the motor casing to access the gate opener's base. Identify the anchor bolt hole positions and the power cord hole.

2. Create a Wooden Template

Place the opener on a wooden board and mark the exact locations for the anchor bolts and electric conduit. Drill holes in the board to ensure precise alignment during installation. This template will guide the placement of anchor bolts and the electric conduit in the concrete.

Note: It is recommended to use a wooden board approximately 1cm (0.4”) thick.

3. Secure the Anchor Bolts to the Template

Insert the anchor bolts into the pre-drilled holes on the wooden template and secure them tightly.

4. Dig the Hole and Pour Concrete

Excavate the foundation hole at the designated location for the opener, following the sliding gate opener's specifications (see the Installation Manual for sizing). Insert the electric conduit into the hole, then pour fresh concrete. Ensure that the foundation is strong enough to support the gate opener's weight and operating forces.

5. Position the Wooden Template and Anchor Bolts

After leveling the top of the concrete, immediately position the wooden template with the anchor bolts in place. Ensure that the electric conduit passes through the appropriate hole in the wooden plate. The bolts should be submerged in the concrete, with the wooden template sitting on top to maintain correct positioning.

6. Remove the Wooden Template

Once the concrete has fully cured, carefully remove the wooden template. The anchor bolts will now be securely set in the foundation and ready for the gate opener installation.

7. Install the Gate Opener

With the anchor bolts in place, proceed to install the sliding gate opener. Use the provided washers and nuts to fasten the opener to the anchor bolts, ensuring a tight and stable fit.
